An example of how the IT reuse scheme can reduce social isolation during lockdown

A special 'Thursday Thanks' from a person recently supported by Peasholme Charity.

This person was at imminent risk of homelessness when Sarah first met him at York Foodbank. She issued him vouchers for food and then referred him to Alison, who supported him to apply for Universal Credit and Personal Independent Payments (PIP) – both of which were successful.

He was then placed in temporary housing by the City of York Council. Using money from the hardship fund, the charity were able to buy kitchen essentials and bedding, so that he could cook a hot meal for himself (and his son), as well as keeping warm at night.

They were able to source a refurbished mobile phone for him through our IT reuse scheme – to reduce social isolation during lockdown. A lovely story made possible by a range of key teams including Digital York!
