The next stage of York’s Full Fibre transformation begins, with the city to benefit from a multi-million pound investment in its digital future. CityFibre completed their acquisition of FibreNation in March 2020 and are now responsible for expanding York’s UFO footprint throughout the city in 2021.
CityFibre are undertaking a wide-scale construction project throughout York to expand the full fibre network to reach almost every premise in the city. Kim Johnston, as City Manager at CityFibre, will spearhead delivery of the project. As part of the project, York will be seeing a number of infill areas being undertaken in 2021 which will involve them revisiting some private/unadopted roads that were not initially viable to connect to the UFO network.
The result is a future-proof broadband network that will provide huge and wide-ranging benefits to the entire community for years to come. UFO is available via TalkTalk and as the roll-out progresses they’ll be available through an increasing range of Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
At the start of 2021 CityFibre started building in the Poppleton area of York. The next streets they're working on include:
March
Riverside Walk
Riverside Gardens
Riversvale Drive
April
Nursery Court
Bachelor Hill
Ashbourne Way
May
Acomb Wood Close
Black Dykes Lane
